9/20/2019 - New Automated Attendant

At Dye & Durham customer service is a top priority. To help improve response times for sales and technical support we've implemented a new automated attendant phone system, similar to many other businesses. When you call for sales, support or account inquiries, you will be routed based on the options you select. This new system will eliminate the need to remain on hold and will allow us to respond to calls more quickly.

4/18/2016 - ESILAW 2015 Hotfix 2 Available for Download

We've recently released a minor hotfix for ESILAW 2015. This latest hotfix addresses a few minor issues reported by end users. To download and install the hotfix ensure you are running ESILAW 2015.1.1 and use the Check for Updates and Install Updates features in the software. Questions regarding the hotfix can be directed to sales or support.


4/18/2016 - Development update for ESILAW 360

As you may have noticed we have been releasing weekly updates to ESILAW 360 over the past several weeks to provide you with new time-saving features as quickly as possible and to address reported issues in a timely manner. We will continue to release these weekly updates for the next several weeks to ensure you receive new features and fixes as soon as they are ready for release. As summer approaches, we'll move towards a new release schedule whereby updates will likely be released once or twice a month. We thank you for your tremendous feedback and suggestions and will be adding a lot of the great ideas we have received to the product in the near future. We encourage you to continue sending us your suggestions as they will help us improve ESILAW 360 and help us continue to build a robust, time-saving solution for everyone.

The most recent features we have added to ESILAW 360 include general and trust cheque requisitions, an interest calculation option for statements, a bill of costs report, custom fields, and email functionality for bills and statements. 2/12/2016 - Just released - major update to ESILAW 360

We've just released our first major update in 2016 for ESILAW 360. This latest release includes new features such as emailing bills, an email manager for bills, customizable forms for e-bills, custom fields with the ability to create field sets by type of law, and alerts. We've also fixed many of the reported issues and thank you for your electronic submissions as they help us to greatly improve 360. In addition, we've made some major changes that ensure clients with very large databases with upwards of a few million transactions experience amazing application performance! Coming soon are the following features; disbursement import (cost recovery), a significantly enhanced limitation diary feature, lawyer and G/L budgets, interest on statements, e-Statements (e-mailing statements), cheque requisitions and a whole lot more. More importantly, we'll be working on the US release shortly and will have a lot of great things to offer your law firm by summer.

7/30/2015 - ESILAW and Windows 10

Microsoft launched Windows 10 launched yesterday as a free upgrade from earlier versions of Windows. You can learn more about the launch and the product here. If you're thinking of upgrading and using ESILAW on Windows 10, there are a few important items you should be aware of before switching.

  • ESILAW and ESILAW Lawyer Desktop have been tested and will run on Windows 10. However, if you encounter technical or network related issues on Windows 10, you will need to upgrade to ESILAW 360.

More information on ESILAW 360 will be made available in the coming weeks as we near the October 2015 launch date.

4/2/2015 - ESILAW 360 Update

Our team is working hard to finalize ESILAW 360. While we had to push the release date up, we are aiming to have it ready sometime in May. The delay is to ensure that we address all issues prior to launch so that any transition from the current version of ESILAW to 360 is seamless. A product feature comparison document, upgrade pricing and other information related to the ESILAW 360 launch will be made available shortly!


4/2/2015 - ESILAW 2015 Hotfix 1

ESILAW 2015 Hotfix 1 is now available for download through Check for Updates in ESILAW. The hotfix addresses recently reported issues and is a recommended download.


1/15/2015 - Important Bulletin for Firms with Cost Recovery Solutions

We have discovered that some third party cost recovery vendors are attempting to read ESILAW client and matter information directly from DBF files located in the ESILAW\data installation folder. If you have a cost recovery solution in place for importing disbursements we strongly recommend you verify with your vendor(s) that they are not accessing any ESILAW DBF files directly as they may cause file in use and corruption errors in your software, which could result in data recovery costs for your firm. We do not support third party direct access to application data files such as DBF files because it interferes with the normal the operation of the software. Vendors who need to access an up to date client/matter list must use the Export Clients/Matters feature in ESILAW, which features a built-in scheduler to allow export of data for use in other software applications.


1/13/2015 - ESILAW 2015 Now Available!

ESILAW 2015 is now available for download for ESICare subscribers. You can find out more about what's in this latest release by viewing the release notes. To download and install 2015.1 use the Check for Updates and Install Updates features in ESILAW.

On another note, we are very close to finalizing and releasing ESILAW 360, our brand new, completely redesigned practice management and accounting software solution. More information on this upcoming release will be made available in the coming weeks!

We've rewritten ESILAW from the ground up with a focus on helping you record, manage, and report on information much more efficiently. Every aspect of the new ESILAW 360 will help you accomplish tasks faster and with more flexiblity, from managing clients and matters to transaction entry to creating bills. We're in the final stages of testing and hope to deliver a finished product by the end of the year so stay tuned for more news on ESILAW 360!

08/06/2014 - ESILAW 2014 is Now Available

ESILAW 2014.1 is now available for download. This latest release features a new firm calendar that allows you share a public calendar with all users in the firm. In addition to the firm calendar, 2014 has many calendar updates as well as other enhancements and fixes. 06/04/2014 - ESILAW 2014 is Just Around the Corner!

We're just about ready to release ESILAW 2014 so keep an eye out for news related to the upcoming release, scheduled for July. In this release you'll find a new discounts feature in Create Bills, improvements to ICBC billing performance, a new Firm Calendar feature, color coded appointments and much more.


06/04/2014 - Brand New ESILAW Product Coming Soon!

We have been hard at work on a brand new ESILAW product for the past few years and are only a few months away from completion. This new product is redesigned from the ground up with an emphasis on ease-of-use, maximizing end user efficiency and accessing information more easily. Existing users will be able to easily migrate their data to the new product with the click of button. News on this version of ESILAW will be made available throughout the summer and fall so keep your eyes and ears open!

04/14/2014 - ESILAW 2013 Hotfix 3 Now Available

We have just released Hotfix 3 for ESILAW 2013. This hotfix addresses several reported issues and is a recommended download.  Pleae note that you must be using ESILAW 2013.1.2 in order to install this update.  To install the hotfix and view the corresponding release notes use the Check for Updates feature in ESILAW.


01/28/2014 - Changes to Supported Products & Solutions

  • We no longer support the Amicus Attorney interface. If you are upgrading your computer and need to re-install the original interface be advised that support is no longer available for this product. You will now need to refer to the Amicus Import Requirements document for details on how to import data from third party applications. To receive support for configuring Amicus Attorney to export client/matter data or time entries contact Gavel & Gown Software directly.
  • The MICR check printing module has been discontinued. If you are upgrading to a new operating system such as Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 you may encounter technical issues so we recommend you do not upgrade any operating systems on computers using the module to print MICR checks until you have transitioned to an alternative solution.
  • Quickfile 4Outlook licenses can now be purchased directly from Standss by visiting http://www.outlook4lawyers.com.

11/14/2013 - ESILAW 2013 Hotfix 1 Now Available

We've just released hotfix 1 for ESILAW 2013.1. To view the release notes for the hotfix download it using the Check for Updates feature in ESILAW. As this hotfix addresses several minor issues in the 2013.1 update, we recommend that firms using 2013.1 download and install it as soon as possible.


09/18/2013 - ESILAW 2013.1 is Now Available

ESILAW 2013.1 has just been released and is ready for download using Check for Updates in ESILAW. This release offers a number of enhancements to existing features as well as the user interface to help current ESILAW customers improve efficiency and complete tasks faster. Included in this release is Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) tracking and reporting, improvements to Bank Reconciliation, an enhanced Conflict Search report, an Import Balances tool for new firms, and much more. We've also added a new Snapshot feature in ESILAW Lawyer Desktop so that lawyers or timekeepers in mid to large-size firms can can monitor their own monthly and yearly performance figures and budgets. Be sure to check out the 2013.1.0 release notes for complete details on what's included in this latest release.

10/25/2012 - ESILAW is Windows 8 Compatible

Windows 8 is scheduled for release by Microsoft today. If you're considering upgrading to Windows 8 or are buying a new PC or laptop with Windows 8 already installed, you can do so knowing that ESILAW is compatible and will run seamlessly on it. However, according to a recent article from ZDNet with statistics from the Gartner Group, Windows 8 is unlikely to be well received in the business desktop environment due to it's focus on a tablet centric Metro interface, geared towards tablet users. The 2012.2 release is now available for download through Check for Updates. Outlined below are some of the signficant changes in this release.

  • A brand new lawyer desktop application for lawyers and timekeepers in the firm. This new application integrates practice management features such as calendaring, client/matter and contact management, and time tracking into a streamlined, easy-to-use interface.
  • Several changes to Trust Transfers to Pay A/R, Release Trust Transfers to Pay A/R, and screens and reports that display related information.
  • A new verification section has been added to the System Balance and File Health reports.
  • New option to set your custom aging cateogries on the A/R Exception report.
  • Several changes have been made to improve overall stability based on error feedback reports submitted by end users.

03/09/2012 - Using the Submit Error Report Feature in 2012.1.1

If you are encountering any errors in ESILAW be sure to submit them to us using the new 'Send Error Report' feature in 2012.1.1. This tool allows us to analyze errors that have been submitted and address them as quickly as possible so we can improve ESILAW. Note that if you encounter an error and require technical support, you will still need to contact support using standard support channels as the error submission feature does not initiate a support incident.


02/16/2012 - ESILAW 2012.1.1 Hotfix 1 Now Available for Download

This latest hotfix, now available through Check for Updates, includes numerous fixes and revisions based on user feedback. We've also added a new error reporting tool that allows you to report software issues or errors via e-mail so that we can address them promptly.
